IDALSA recently participated in the event “Decarbonization Experiences in Industry and Mobility,” organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Zaragoza with the aim of enabling industrial and mobility sector companies to exchange knowledge and collaborate on decarbonization projects in line with European and Spanish regulations.

In the current context, where awareness of environmental and climate challenges is increasing, reducing carbon emissions has become an urgent priority. From the industry to the shared mobility sector, companies are seeking ways to reduce their carbon footprint and actively contribute to a more sustainable future. During this event, various companies, including IDALSA, gathered to exchange experiences, successes, and challenges in implementing projects aimed at reducing their carbon emissions. From innovative technological solutions to resource management strategies, the event, held in collaboration with Siemens and Ibercaja, provided a detailed insight into these organizations’ commitment to combating climate change and towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

IDALSA highlighted the significant contribution of recycled aluminium in reducing the carbon footprint, both in its manufacturing process and as a replacement for primary aluminium, throughout the entire lifecycle of products made with this material. Additionally, the company shared its experience and the qualities of its product as support for weight reduction in the automotive sector, and its contribution to low-emission mobility.

The event featured Mar Paños, general director of industrial promotion and innovation in the Government of Aragon, María Teresa Ruiz, responsible for European funds and sustainability in Ibercaja’s corporate banking, and Miguel Ángel Almalé, territorial director of Siemens Technical Solutions, as key speakers.

IDALSA, working today to improve tomorrow.

IDALSA, one of the largest manufacturers of ingots from recycled and cast aluminum, has once again obtained its Aragon Social Responsibility Seal (RSA) for the year 2024. This achievement highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability and its outstanding contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility in the Autonomous Community of Aragon.

With this renewal, it again emphasizes its commitment to good governance practices and its high positive impact on sustainability, recertifying as a socially responsible entity. The renewal process for this seal is the result of continuous efforts to meet rigorous evaluations and criteria established by the Government of Aragon, in collaboration with key entities such as CEOE Aragon, Cepyme Aragon, UGT Aragon, and CC.OO Aragon.

Corporate Social Responsibility, at its core, represents a set of commitments of various kinds, including economic, social, and environmental aspects, adopted by companies, organizations, and both public and private institutions. These commitments go beyond compliance with current legislation, contributing to social and economic progress within the framework of sustainable development, emphasizing the promotion of transparency, respect for employees, relationships with stakeholders, and a commitment to the environment.

Several factors have been key in its certification, such as the promotion of circular economy and responsible waste management, as well as the development of ethical policies with stakeholders. The company continues its steadfast commitment to sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility and takes pride in its contribution to a more ethical, socially, and environmentally responsible world.

IDALSA, an example of commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

IDALSA took part in the Sustainability Forum promoted by the car company Renault España. The event took place at the Renault Valladolid facilities, where Fernando Lou, General Manager of the company, participated as speaker in front of more than 80 managers and employees.

The presentation was focused on the use of aluminium in the manufacture of vehicles and how the introduction of this material in the sector, replacing heavier materials, has led to an important reduction in fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Fernando Lou reviewed the different elements of vehicles that are currently manufactured with aluminium, taking place of other metals, their predominant alloys and the weight savings that each one can represent. He ended his presentation with an overall assessment, providing specific data: each kilogram of aluminium that has replaced other heavier materials has meant a reduction of 18 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions during the useful life of the vehicle.

Moreover, aluminium is a low-density material that is extremely light, strong and malleable. It is also a good conductor, both electrically and thermally, reflects electromagnetic radiation well and does not rust or burn, making it an excellent material for application in the various mechanical parts of vehicles.

What stands out most about aluminium is that it is 100% and infinitely recyclable, making it a key and strategic material for the present and future of many sectors, including the automotive one, as it has an infinite life cycle, can be recycled in its entirety without losing any of its properties and maintaining its quality intact.

It was in 1984 when IDALSA started its industrial activity, an activity focused on the manufacture of aluminium ingots following the raw material recycling process. During these more than 30 years, the company has continued to progress and grow and is currently a benchmark in this important industrial sector both nationally and internationally.

An extensive path that has meant reaching competitive levels of knowledge and experience within our specialised activity. These values, together with the personal commitment not only of the owners but also of all those who form part of the staff, have enabled us to successfully overcome difficult moments and scenarios, managing to emerge stronger and with great prospects for the future. During all this time, our commitment to continuous improvement and quality has led us along the path of excellence and we can be satisfied not only with what we have already achieved but also with the solid foundations for the future that we have all built together. A solid structure based on a job well done, the cohesion of a prepared and committed staff, the concern for research and innovation as part of progress, the frequent collaborations with organisations and universities, etc.

More than 30 years of persistence and work that position us optimally and competitively in the international market, with an ambitious and careful projection for the future that not only serves to consolidate IDALSA and its activity but also contributes decisively to the positive results of the local and regional economy and to the maintenance and creation of quality employment. This is the IDALSA of the coming years.
